San Francisco CA, June 15, 1999 IBM is now distributing Bunker Hill’s Scriptoria for DB2 Standard Edition, a point-and-click Microsoft Access to DB2 migration tool that transforms MS-Access database applications into DB2 ones. It is now available for free download at IBM’s Data Management web-site.
Bunker Hill Corporation (BHC) of San Francisco, California specializes in database migration and provides a number of tools based on Microsoft Access for creating DB2 or Oracle database applications and data marts/warehouses.
ScriptoriaTM precisely replicates Microsoftâ Access tables and indexes as SQL DDL (data definition language) with just a few mouse-clicks, maintaining all entity relationships including cascade update. Access data types, counters, defaults, validation rules and even built-in functions, are instantly translated into their DB2 or Oracle counterparts, with object names properly converted to conform with vendor specific naming conventions. Scriptoria populates the DB2 or Oracle database by taking advantage of the fast LOAD utilities supplied by IBM and Oracle.
In addition, Scriptoria’s bind facility adapts MS-Access front-ends to operate using IBM or Oracle’s client/server oriented databases while retaining the look-and-feel of original Access application. But with the Access application now operating on the desktop, LAN/Intranet or even over the Internet.
Bunker Hill also offers the Professional Edition of Scriptoria for DB2 (and Oracle) for advanced migrations and creating data marts and warehouses. With the Professional Edition, heterogeneous data stores (dBase, Excel, Sybase, VSAM, etc.) can be used to create homogeneous DB2 or Oracle database structures with data populated (replaced, updated or added) on a periodic basis.
