Scriptoria automatically maintains control tables that are used to cross-reference Access names (tables, fields, indexes, etc.) with corresponding DB2 names.
If you are using DB2 version 6.1 or higher, you probably do not need to manually assign table and column names since a column length of 30 and a table length of 128 characters are now supported.
Versions of DB2 prior to 6.1 supported a maximum column and table length of 18 characters. Since Access names can be 64 bytes long and may contain may special characters, Scriptoria must shorten many Access names and further modify them to ensure they conform to DB2 naming conventions and are unique. This process creates DB2 names that may appear rather cryptic as compared to their Access counterparts. If you will be deploying to a Version 6 database, the table and column names can be manually amended to be as large as 64 and 30 characters in length respectively.
Use this feature to assign your own DB2 names to tables and fields that will be generated by Scriptoria from the given Access database. Although Scriptoria ensures that all object names are unique and conform to DB2 naming conventions, some assigned names may be difficult to recognize. It is recommended that you identify and rename confusing object names before migrating to DB2.
